❝ NINA SIMONE MCBARNEY ❞ SIXTEEN. ELEVENTH. OUTSPOKEN. HUMOROUS. HETEROSEXUAL. ESPOIR. build The dimensions or proportions of a person's or animal's body. Nina stands at a fair five foot five. She has a small, delicate build, and is rather thin. Her hands are covered with small, leathery veins from hours and hours of playing instruments. Tattoos cover her harms and her stomach. Her hair, black and plentiful, fall just below her ribs and are pushed toward one side of her head. Her eyebrows are perfectly plucked every week. To Nina, she considers her nose rather big, but it was one of her best assets. out·spo·ken Frank in stating one's opinions, esp. if they are critical or controversial. Since a very young age, Nina has always had a problem with biting her tongue. She grew up speaking her mind, no matter how many times she was warned otherwise. There is something about her mind that does not resist the common logic instilled in her. Nina is frank and candid with you, and won't hesitate to express how she's feeling. It can come off as a little harsh, or even cold, but she would rather hurt your feelings than have you fooled for a second longer. as·pi·ra·tion A hope or ambition of achieving something. For as long as she can sing, Nina aspires to be an artist. She wants to express herself and ideas through music and make impacts on other people's lives. Nina comes from a musical family, and it was only natural for her to follow the footsteps of her parents, regardless if she was successful. She aspires to make a living out of doing something she loved. It's her heart's desire to live the life she had always wanted and dreamed for herself, and she is currently on that road. vo·cal A part of a piece of music that is sung. Ever since she talked, she insisted on singing. Although her family didn't have the resources to get Nina vocal lessons, they helped her in her endeavors. Overtime, Nina was able to develop her own style and taste, and was able to really flower as an artist. tu·lip A bulbous spring-flowering plant (genus Tulipa) of the lily family, with boldly colored cup-shaped flowers. When money became hard, Nina's parents resorted to producing and selling drugs. They had a small garden in their basement, where they had made most of their products. This had started when Nina was twelve. Growing up, she just had thought that her parents were just some kind of result of hippies and didn't think much of it. She was very much aware that it was illegal, but her parents didn't smoke the drugs (just sold it) and it didn't seem to disrupt her day-to-day life. However, when she was fourteen, an anonymous tip was sent into the police, and they had raided their house. Nina's parents were ruled unsuitable to take care of her, and sent her away to her closest relative, her uncle Gerald. Uncle Gerald was the main man responsible for Nina's style in music, and was basically her life mentor. When she had moved in, depressed and lonely, he was an incredible shoulder to cry on. Gerald had a small garden of tulips in his spacious backyard, and he would constantly have them around the house. To this day, the thought of tulips make Nina happy ... but sad at the same time, at the thought of her parents. ster·e·o·type A widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. Since she was twelve years old and was praised on her musical skills, Nina has always wanted to break stereotypes when it came to the typical female artist. She had spent a lot of time creating an image for herself to make her stand out against other artists in the same category as her. When Nina turned fifteen, she had gotten her first couple of tattoos. The process was a bit painful, but she liked the aesthetic appeal and the uniqueness of each tattoo. Her parents were not around to disapprove and her uncle Gerald was all for freedom of expression, so it seemed like a natural course for Nina. nick·name A familiar or humorous name given to a person or thing instead of or as well as the real name. Nina has a collection of nicknames including: Barnes, Barney, Nany, Nan, Mick-B and Mac. However, her stage name is Barnes, developed by her uncle Gerald. She loves the name so much, she prefers that you call her that. But really, any name is just fine by her. dis·cov·er Find (something or someone) unexpectedly or in the course of a search. Nina is not the kind of girl that could afford to go to Dobois. When she was thirteen, she had been posting videos of herself on the internet to gain some attention. Her uncle supported her and had bought expensive materials in order to boost her singing career. He then stumbled upon Dubois School of Preforming and Visual Arts and happened to notice that they were accepting applications for scholarships. And as a sixteenth birthday present, he had submitted his own application for her. News got back and she was accepted as one of the few on scholarship. Simply put, she was discovered. louis. asia/manila. fifteen. female. ❝ FACE CLAIM ❞ lights ploxleitner • nina s. mcbarney • louis |
